Update for 08-24-08

I didn’t realize how long it’s been since I posted on this site! I actually forgot about it until my hosting was about to expire and I had to move the site.

Anyway, I wish I could say more progress has been made in the over two years since I posted an update but I really haven’t done a whole lot.

Here are some things I can think of that I have done:
Now painted black.
I reassembled mostly everything.
I started to wet sand and buff part of the hood and right door but haven’t finished.
I installed the Vintage Air a/c unit and a/c compressor - I had to custom make an a/c bracket for it which I then powder coated with a chrome finish.
I installed a gas tank under the bed and put a filler in the bed.
I installed my Ididit chrome steering column (and broke the horn mechanism in the process - d’oh)
I installed my Lokar rear trans mount shifter.
I’ve wired 90% of the truck from scratch.
I got a 14″ electric fan that pulls something like 2700 CFM. I bought a shroud from Summit Racing which I then had to cut to fit and I also made a custom aluminum backing to mount the shroud to the radiator. I polished everything to a mirror finish(THAT was a lot of work.)
Installed and wired in my gauges.

I guess maybe I have done a lot…

Things I need to do before finishing:
Wire in my alarm(the damn thing that started this whole project…)
Fasten the bed to the frame and the gas tank to the frame.
Finish wet sanding and buffing.
Install the interior.
Install the seats - I got a nice leather set from a place on ebay. I will have to custom make the brackets for them though using their “universal bracket.” I also got a console from them but am still not sure if I will have enough room to use it.
Find someone to make me a windshield. I installed the old one but it is cracked in two places now.
Install the little air vent in the front cowl.

Probably some other stuff…I will try to get more pictures soon.

Updates for 2-1-06

No pictures today.

I got my right fender sprayed in sealer. I’m going to have to go over it a lot though, tons of scratches in the body work I had already done. I also worked more on the area around the rear window and fixed the runs I had from the last time I sprayed sealer on the back.

Updates for 01-25-06

The updates for today are….none. I’ve been sick as hell all this week and have barely been out of bed. Next week….

Well, this week I mostly worked on getting the rest of the cab sprayed in sealer. I was doing pretty good until my 60 some year old paint gun I use for shooting primer/sealer decided to give up on me. You can see this from the giant runs on the back of the cab. D’oh!

Updates for 01-11-06

Well, no pictures for today’s updates. I basically sanded down the rest of the cab and I just sprayed more feather fill over it because I had too much bare metal showing to spray sealer over it. (I’ll probably have to sand the sealer off in a couple places on the cab where I sprayed it already and do this because of metal showing.) I also worked some more on the right fender.

Wow, I sure am late on these updates, time just flies by. In these pics I started sanding down the cab and sprayed it in sealer. I discovered one spot below the back window where I seem to have forgotten to finish it. It’s pretty wavy there and will need some more body work. D’oh! I also started working on finishing up the right fender.

Updates for 12-28-05

Well, no updates for this week as my work screwed me out of my day off, how nice of them.

But, I want to wish all of you guys a very happy New Year!

Let’s burn some rubber in 2006!

Updates and Pictures for 12-21-05

First off, I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays.

This week I started working on my left fender. I didn’t get too much done to this because I had to wait for the body shop to bring me more fiber tech, which took them quite some time.

While I was waiting I started working on my hood. I sanded it all down to 320 grit. I had a couple spots where I did some minor body work. I then sprayed sealer on it. I’m thinking I sprayed the sealer on too soon after doing the body work because it looks like the puddy soaked up the sealer. You can see the outline of my bodywork through the sealer, even after it totally dried. Oh well, nothing a little more sanding and spraying can’t take care of.

All in all the hood looks pretty decent now.

Updates and Pictures for 12-17-05

I pulled double duty this week and worked on my truck Wednesday and Saturday. I think I got a decent amount accomplished. Wednesday I spent my time working on the driver’s side fender some more and sanded down my two doors with 320 grit sand paper. It was difficult to sand around the window frame and left some scratches that were too much for the sealer to take up. I also had one scratch on the door that I must have missed. So anyway, obviously I sprayed the two doors in sealer.

Saturday I sanded down the one door that I had all the scratches in, this time with 400 grit paper. I also did some more work on the driver’s side fender and sprayed the fender and one door in sealer again. I haven’t yet seen the two dry so I don’t know exactly how they turned out. Looking at it while it was still wet I need to do some more work on the fender in a couple places. I didn’t take pictures of my Saturday work.

Updates for 12-8-05

Well, my work schedule got all messed up and I wound up working on the truck today instead of yesterday. I wasn’t even totally sure if I was going to be able to work on it today so I didn’t bring my camera. I will have to take it with me sometime in the next couple days to take some pics, not that you can tell a whole lot from them.

I worked on the driver’s side fender today, cleaned and scraped down the inside and put down some Zero Rust. I also worked at building up the one curve where the panel behind the grille meets up with the fender. Still have some more to do.

I also worked on the two doors. I have them off the truck up on 55 gallon drums to do some finishing touches. I sprayed - hopefully - one of the last coats of feather fill on them today after I sanded them with 320 grit sand paper.
